The idea was to make chalets that fit into the surroundings, even complementing the perfection of the raw, northern nature. We think we have succeeded, considering their popularity. Many guests describe our litle village of cabins in the forest as Hobbiton from Tolkien`s fantasy world. 

The large panoramic window

will let you look for the blaze of Northern Lights in the sky above the ice hotel, from the warmth of your cabin. The Aurora Borealis is the main attraction for many who visit northern Scandinavia, and if you stay with us for a few days, the chance is great that your polar dream will come true. 

When the vibrant arctic summer arrives

you can admire the scenery of forest, mountains and fjord illuminated by the Midnight sun, which is on the sky 24 hours a day from May until July. Winter is still the most popular time at Snowhotel Kirkenes, but summer is on the rise. More and more people want to see and feel the swift, but beautiful summer and autumn in the north.

At Snowhotel Kirkenes we have a full summer program with reindeer, huskies and King Crab fishing, among other to keep you busy during your arctic holiday. Already in the end of August, the Northern lights are visible again, and this is a perfect time to experience the colourful and beautiful nordic autumn.

​On the inside the Gamme is far from the average wilderness lodge. Here you will have all you want for; air conditioning, underfloor heating and natural wood and tiles.
